- ATR more prevalence in elderly/adult
- WTR more prevelance in children
- ATR take longer duration of occlusion compare to WTR
- Less line gain in BCVA for ATR compare to WTR
- ATR - horizontal meridian is blur/vertical meridian clear
- WTR -horizontal clear/vertical blur
Accommodative response in vertical meridian greater than those in horizontal meridian. Since WTR having vertical line blur so with accommodation it can overcome that astigmatism by getting the vertical line clear. While ATR, with accommodation; horizontal meridian having lag of accommodation so the horizontal meridian remain blur that can lead to amblyopia.
By squeezing the eye blur image on vertical meridean can be overcome in WTR but not in ATR.
CONCLUSION : ATR more prone to Amblyopia.
